Letter to Hubby

Shawn,

We’ve officially been married for 3 whole years and what a journey its been! I still remember when we were barely shy of a year of dating and you told me you were going to spend the rest of your life with me. My initial thought was wow, how can he be so confident…especially considering we were still long distance at the time.

But confidence is actually one of the many things I love the most about you; along with your heart for others and your strength. When the world throws us curve balls and I’m an irrational mess you always carry on and remind me that our faith and trust is in God and not in the world. 

Year 1 with you was quite the adventure. Even though it was just a couple years ago I feel like we were so young and there was such a freedom attached to us (or maybe just a lack of a baby lol). We tried so many new things together, explored so many new places and most importantly dreamed together of the years to come.

Year 2 was a surprise, an eventual pleasant one, but nonetheless a surprise. We were pregnant with our sweet Rae of sunshine. She turned our world upside down with her bold personality. She’s your twin. Not only does she look like you but she carries your strong-willingness and love of people. 

Year 3 has probably been our toughest year yet. Adjusting to having a toddler around has been the least of our issues considering all the challenges I had to overcome physically and mentally. But you’ve always stood so strong for us, encouraging me when I needed encouragement but also being brutally honest when I needed that as well. 

I’m absolutely excited for what year 4 is going to bring us! Each year with you has gotten better and better (even with its set of challenges). So cheers to growing old together, loving each other unconditionally and accomplishing our very BIG dreams together!
