Foundation in the summer (especially in Florida’s humidity) doesn’t always mix well.
While most days during the summer I decide to go makeup-less, there are still some days I still like to spruce myself up without my face feeling heavy and sticky.
So I wanted to share a couple of my favorite summertime foundations that don’t feel heavy on my skin but still provide really good coverage!
It Cosmetics CC+ Cream
I have minimal personal experience with this summer foundation but I always hear rave reviews about it having buildable coverage and being lightweight. There have been multiple times I’ve seen this foundation on other women and it looked absolutely beautiful on them. If your skin is on the drier side, you may want to prep your skin accordingly because I have heard complaints about this foundation coming off as cakey. But there is an illuminating formula of this foundation that I’m hoping to get my hands on soon!
Fenty Pro Filt’r Hydrating Foundation
I will forever shout out this foundation because it’s my ride-or-die-go-to foundation. It lives up to the name of being hydrating but my favorite thing about it is the coverage. It changes the game because most full-coverage foundations lay on more of the matte side of the spectrum.
Lancôme Teint Idole Ultra Wear Foundation
I like to call this foundation my first love. It’s actually the foundation pictured in all pictures for this post. It’s a splurge but totally worth it in my opinion.
I usually only buy this foundation in the hotter months because I love how lightweight it feels. Out of all the foundations on this list, it’s probably my favorite go-to summer foundation. When I wear this foundation, I usually forget I have makeup on by the end of the day. It’s not as full coverage as Fenty in my opinion but it still gets the job done if you’re not looking to cover too much up.
L’Oréal Infallible Pro Glow Foundation
In my opinion, this is a close dupe to the Lancome foundation. It is still lightweight while providing a slight coverage. The only problem I have with this foundation is the shade range. Like most drugstore foundations, I have a hard time finding a good match in the store. I do know that their site traditionally has a better selection but for me, the purpose of drugstore makeup is the convenience of picking it up on a quick target trip and not worrying about shipping.
Tarte Shape Tape Concealer
So this may not be a foundation but concealer is the way to go for a quick and easy, put-together look. This is my favorite full coverage concealer, I apply it under my eyes and on any other areas of discoloration on my face. It is my favorite look on hot summer days when I really don’t feel like wearing too much makeup.
Lastly, don’t forget your sunscreen! I shared some of my favorite sunscreens in a previous post. In case you missed it though, under makeup I love to wear Supergoop’s Unseen Sunscreen. It is a silicone-based sunscreen and is beautiful under pretty much all of these foundations. It can also be worn solo after you apply your moisturizer.
Just a tip, for longer-lasting makeup wear, you always want to match the base of your foundation with the base of your primer. So, a silicone-based foundation will apply beautifully with a silicone-based primer. The same will go for water-based products and oil-based products.
Let me know if you have any questions or good summertime makeup tips!
