Your most basic skincare regiment should include 2 steps: cleansing and moisturizing. I talked a lot about my cleansing routine last week so I had to follow up this week with a couple of moisturizing tips!
My face as a whole traditionally falls in the combination skin category but my cheeks (and under eye area) are pretty much always dry. With that being said, these moisturizing tips would work best for those with combination to dry skin.
Don’t Forget to Moisturize Your Neck
The first moisturizing tip I have for you is to simply moisturize more than just your face. You should also be moisturizing your neck as well in an upward motion. Work your product in your skin in the opposite direction of gravity. I actually do this for my serums as well.
Moisturizing Serums
As I mentioned above, my cheeks tend to be on the drier side compared to the rest of my face. As an added protection, I like to go in with a hyaluronic acid serum. Hyaluronic Acid helps your skin retain moisture and bring that moisture to the surface of your skin. My go-to hyaluronic acid serum is Neutrogena Hydro Boost Serum. It’s affordable and leaves my skin super soft.
Drink More Water
I know you’re probably thinking…well duh, Michelle. But if your skin is starting to feel drier than usual (dehydrated) you may need to simply increase your water intake! I always take this into effect when it comes to any skin problems that may pop up. From breakouts to dull skin, MORE water is usually the answer.
Expensive Moisturizers Aren’t Always the Answer
One of my favorite moisturizers is the Ole Henriksen C-Rush Brightening Gel Creme. It’s my go-to moisturizer most days because it contains Vitamin C, it gives me a beautiful glow and it honestly smells amazing! I don’t always reach for this moisturizer though. When my skin needs a little more moisture and TLC, I have yet to find anything to top Ponds Dry Skin Cream and Cerave Healing Ointment. These are both drugstore moisturizers that deliver results better than most high-end moisturizers I’ve tried.
Treat Yourself To A Mask
I’m a huge believer that every woman should take time to herself weekly. While you’re spending some quality time with yourself, you should think about adding a face mask in your regimen. Here are a few face masks that I would recommend for glowing skin!
Aztec Secret – Indian Healing Clay Mask.
FARMACYBright On Massage-Activated Vitamin C Mask.
GLAMGLOW SuperMud Charcoal Instant Treatment Mask.
Skincare seems like a strenuous process to most but it doesn’t have to be that way! You can always keep your regimen basic with a good cleanser, moisturizer, and healthy habits.
Also, be patient! We all want that miracle moment, but results take time. Don’t be too hard on yourself either. Life happens and a positive attitude shines brighter than beautiful skin!
