Postpartum depression is real. I know because it’s a journey I walked through for a while after I had Raelynn. It is a burden I carried until I sought Him for the wisdom, tools, and resources to overcome it all. If you’re reading this and this is your struggle as well, my prayer is that you realize that you’re not alone. You will get through this. We serve a God that is able to do abundantly more than we can ever ask for and think. He knows your needs and sees your heart. Never forget that, tie that reminder around your heart if you have to. He is near. And as you meditate on these bible verses I meditated on when I was battling postpartum depression, my prayer is that you see all that He’s trying to speak to you in this season (and remember it’s just a season and seasons are temporary!).

The Lord hears his people when they call to him for help. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed. Psalm 34:17-18
He hears your cries and draws closer to you in hard times. Call to Him.
#2
Do not be afraid or discouraged, for the Lord will personally go ahead of you. He will be with you; he will neither fail or abandon you. Deuteronomy 31:8
The same God that was a constant faithful pillar to those before us, will be a constant faithful pillar in your life as well. He goes before you. He won’t leave you.

If you need wisdom, ask our generous God, and he will give it to you. He will not rebuke you for asking. James 1:5
As you cry out and seek Him, God will give you the wisdom to push through this. There’s no shame in receiving additional help through therapy, antidepressants, etc.. He’s designed our bodies in an intricate way so allow Him to speak to you on what YOU personally need.

2Dear brothers and sisters, when troubles of any kind come your way, consider it an opportunity for great joy. 3For you know that when your faith is tested, your endurance has a chance to grow. 4So let it grow, for when your endurance is fully developed, you will be perfect and complete, needing nothing. James 1:2-4
As you walk through this, keep telling yourself you will walk out of this stronger than you were before.

For we are not fighting against flesh-and-blood enemies, but against evil rulers and authorities of the unseen world, against mighty powers in this dark world, and against evil spirits in the heavenly places. Therefore, put on every piece of God’s armor so you will be able to resist the enemy in the time of evil. Then after the battle, you will still be standing firm. Ephesians 6:12-13
We can’t ignore our physical state but we’re called to see things in the spiritual world. We have to get to this point of thinking, whether it’s through the aide of modern medicine, therapy, or prayer alone. His goal is for you to be standing firm (in HIM) after the battle.
#6
Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Phillipians 4:6-7
WHATEVER you need, pray about it. No matter how big or small. Whether it’s rest, resources, help etc., He can carry your burdens. As you give your burdens to Him, He in exchange will give you an unexplainable peace.
#7
And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven. Matthew 19:18
Through the gospel, He’s given us the keys and authority to walk through this thing.
#8
The righteous person faces many troubles, but the Lord comes to the rescue each time. Psalm 34:19
We are going to have obstacles on this Earth, but we can’t forget that He’s also promised us deliverance in Him.
#9
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek his will in all you do, and he will show you which path to take. Proverbs 3:5-6
We may not understand WHY we’re going through this, but it’s not our job to understand why. Seek Him for the wisdom to get through this. Cry out to Him for strength when you need it. Most importantly, trust and believe mama that He has a plan for your life beyond what you physically may see.
I pray these bible verses helped you whether you’re battling postpartum depression or just a new mom trying to find your way. If you are battling postpartum depression don’t be afraid to seek help in addition to writing these bible verses on your mirror.
Never forget you are more than enough mama. God gave you that beautiful baby for a reason. He’s graced you for this journey.
