Social distancing has been really hard for me and Raelynn considering we are used to using our Disney World passes every other week. Trips to Target and walks around the neighborhood just hasn’t been cutting it! So I did some research and stumbled across Wild Florida: Drive-Thru Safari! Raelynn loves animals and I love exploring different Orlando gems so we planned a trip to check them out!
Where is Wild Florida: Drive-Thru Safari located?
Wild Florida: Drive Thru Safari is located at 3301 Lake Cypress Road Kenasville, FL 34739
We live in an area about 30 minutes north of Orlando so it took us about an hour and a half to head there. If you’re in the downtown Orlando area, it’ll probably take you about an hour. If you’re familiar with the Orlando area, they are located right outside of St. Cloud.
Is it worth it for younger toddlers?
I will admit I was super nervous to lose Raelynn’s 2-year-old attention span considering we weren’t actively getting out of the car but she loved it!
Because it was a long car-ride over, Raelynn was sleep when we first pulled up. So I climbed in the backseat with her to not only wake her up but to also get a clear view of what the experience looked like from her point of view.
What was the experience like?
We went in the middle of the week and it wasn’t crowded at all! When I was doing my initial research, I read that it can get pretty crowded on Saturdays.
Since it wasn’t crowded, I felt super comfortable pulling Raelynn out of her car seat to check out certain animals. While in the actual safari, you’re free to roll down your windows to get a better look. You can’t go over 5 mph while in the safari and we were able to actually stop a couple of times to say “hello” to some of Raelynn’s favorite animals!
I also loved how many different types of animals there were to check out! They will give you a scavenger hunt pamphlet so you can identify the different animals!
Because it was raining, we passed on the giraffe feeding experience but I can’t wait to plan another trip to check it out! They also offer airboat rides and an alligator farm!
Wild Florida: Drive-Thru Safari tickets and hours of operation
If you’re a Florida Resident ticket prices are $20 for adults and $15 for children. Non-Florida resident ticket prices are $29 for adults and $20 for a child. Drive-thru safari tickets also include access to the alligator farm.
Tickets can be purchased in person or in advance on their site! As I mentioned earlier, Saturdays can be busy so I’d suggest buying online ahead of time. They are open Monday-Saturday 9 a.m. – 6 p.m.
Whether you’re a local or visiting the Orlando area, I think you’ll love this experience!
