Back in July, I shared with you my experience on my most recent social media detox and the 3 big things that happened. If you haven’t check that post out already, you’re missing out! At this point, I’m an advocate for having a social media detox at least once a month in order to be more intentional with your time. Don’t get me wrong, I love social media just as much as the next person. But I have also seen first hand how it can consume you if not properly used. The first time I took a social media detox, I noticed how much free time I had on my hands. I also had no idea how to fill this newly found free time. So, if this you, I compiled a list of 20 things I like to do during a social media detox!
20 Things To Do During A Social Media Detox
- Read a book- Currently, I’m reading Jesus Over Everything x Lisa Whittle
- Declutter- As we’re slowly approaching fall, now is the perfect time to go through your closet and get rid of those summer outfits you avoided all summer long
- Find a new hobby- This year during quarantine, I learned how to sew and Shawn learned how to trade on the stock market.
- Quality family time
- Have a deep cleaning day
- Find a new recipe- Cooking is another hobby I’ve picked up in quarantine. Check out my food board and follow me on Pinterest
- Random act of kindness- Start a pay it forward line at Starbucks! Put a grocery store gift card in your neighbor’s mailbox just because! ?
- Write out a handful of weekly, monthly, or even quarterly goals
- Host a family (and friends) game night- Some of my favorite memories growing up have come from family game nights.
- Treat a friend to lunch- Show off your favorite new Pinterest recipe and invite a friend over for lunch.
- Explore a new local gem- I recently stumbled across Congaree and Penn in Jacksonville and guys…?.
- Go outside and get some vitamin D- Sometimes, it’s the simple things ? Raelynn and I loveeee going outside to play with bubbles and sidewalk chalk.
- Plan a self-care day- Girl, get yourself a candle, cut on some worship music, and paint your nails. Do the things that make you happy!
- Plan a future vacation- Safely and socially distanced of course!
- Deliver fresh flowers to a friend
- Complete that home project you’ve been procrastinating
- Workout
- Get some rest- I can’t count the number of times I’ve spent aimlessly scrolling on my phone instead of sleeping when it’s time to sleep
- Listen to a podcast
- Call an old friend or family member- Because we should always be mindful of pouring love into those around us
So now, ask yourself.
When’s the last time you’ve taken a social media detox? If you’ve been picking up your phone more than usual and can’t go anywhere without it being nearby, it might just be time for you to step back and spend some time pouring into other areas of your life.
