This past week while brainstorming for a gift to give to our neighbors I stumbled across this gem and it was such a hit I had to share it with you guys! I LOVE cute DIY-gifts like this one because they are so simple to make and made with love. I contemplated gifting our neighbor a candle, but I decided to go with this sweet DIY stovetop potpourri instead.
If I’m being completely honest with you, one of my favorite things about this gift was how much bang for my buck I was able to get! I bought the supplies for my stovetop potpourri with the intention of making one gift for my neighbor but I was able to make 12 sets from $25 worth of supplies. Making this also the perfect gift for mama’s with multiple teachers to buy for.
Stovetop Potpourri Recipe

Stovetop Potpourri Ingredients
- 1/3 cup of cranberries
- 1 tbsp whole cloves
- 2 cinnamon sticks
- 1 rosemary stalk
- 1 orange
Directions
Cut up orange in 4 pieces. Throw the rest of supplies into a pot of water & enjoy :)! Add more water in as needed.
Variations
If you search stovetop potpourri on Pinterest you may find a couple different variations of this recipe. This particular recipe is inspired by the Christmas season but you may find different fruits and herbs used based on different seasons. During the holidays, in lieu of rosemary you could also use evergreen sprigs. Evergreen sprigs can conveniently be found (typically for free!) pretty much anywhere live Christmas trees are found!
Aside from a sprig of evergreen, you could also add in all spice or even star anise. If you play with this recipe, I’d love to hear what you come up with!
